Wabtec Secures $157 Million Brake System Order from Siemens Limited

HOSUR, January 24, 2024 — In a major development, Wabtec Corporation has been awarded a substantial $157 million brake system order by Siemens India Private Limited’s Mobility Business.

The order is designated for the esteemed 9000HP locomotive project catering to Indian Railways. This collaboration aims to enhance operating performance, efficiency, and safety through the incorporation of cutting-edge technology into a new line of 1,200 electric locomotives.

Long-Term Commitment and Partnership

The agreement solidifies Wabtec’s commitment to supply Siemens with brake systems from its Hosur plant for the next 11 years, coupled with a long-term maintenance services commitment spanning 35 years. The locomotives will be assembled at the Indian Railways factory in Dahod, Gujarat, India, by Siemens.

The high-performance brake system supplied by Wabtec is poised to equip the locomotives with critical safety features, high reliability, and reduced maintenance intervals.
