Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL) has officially started building a massive 2 million square feet Business Park. This new project aims to attract Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and support Bengaluru’s growth as an international business hub. The Karnataka Government’s GCC policy (2024-2029) backs this, hoping to create 3.5 lakh jobs and contribute $50 billion to the state’s economy.
A Modern Business Hub
The Business Park will be built on 17.7 acres near Kempegowda International Airport (BLR Airport). It will have four buildings, each covering 0.5 million square feet. The park will include green spaces, gardens, and landscaped balconies to create a pleasant work environment. The design promotes a balance between nature and business.
Supporting Global Capability Centres
Bengaluru has become a global leader in hosting GCCs, accounting for 36% of India’s GCC workforce. These centers drive growth in industries like IT, biotechnology, and aerospace. The new Business Park will help Bengaluru continue to grow as a hub for these global centers.
Improved Connectivity and Innovation
The upcoming Airport West metro station, located near the Business Park, will make it easy for employees and visitors to travel quickly to Bengaluru’s city center. Additionally, Bengaluru Airport City is creating an Advanced Technology Hub, including 3D printing facilities and a high-tech kitchen, showing its focus on innovation.
Entertainment, Hospitality, and Sustainability
The project includes plans for India’s first concert arena within an airport ecosystem and a large Convention & Exhibition Centre. The area will also have 5,200 hotel rooms, with popular hotels like Taj Bangalore already in operation.
Bengaluru Airport City is committed to sustainability. The entire campus runs on renewable energy and has earned a Green Cities Platinum certification. Rainwater harvesting helps meet the airport’s water needs.
Future Plans
Bengaluru Airport City will expand its Education & Health District, bringing in top international institutions and creating a Life Sciences Park. This will improve the area’s healthcare and education infrastructure. Additionally, the BIAL Academy and Air India Academy will train professionals for the aviation and hospitality sectors.
The new Business Park is just one part of Bengaluru Airport City’s broader vision for sustainable and innovative urban development. With Kempegowda International Airport already one of the fastest-growing in the world, Bengaluru is set to strengthen its role as a key global business hub.
