Constructing Two New Platforms for Mail Express
Mumbai Division Invests 64.10 Crores for Infrastructure Development at LTT
In a significant move to boost railway infrastructure, the Mumbai division has initiated the construction of two new platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT). The project, costing 64.10 Crores, aims to enhance train mobility and alleviate congestion.

Scope of Work
The ambitious project encompasses various key components to elevate the functionality of Lokmanya Tilak Terminus:
- Pit Lines with Pile Foundation
- Two Overhead Water Tanks (2.25 Lakh Litre Capacity Each)
- Underground Water Tank (4.5 Lakh Litre Capacity)
- Four Stabling Sidings
- Dismantling of Existing Old Tracks
- Dismantling & Reconstruction of Electric and Mechanical Office and Store Building
- Asphalt Roads (7000 sq. mtr)
- Provision of Aprons for Platforms
- Provision of Shunting Neck
- Slewing of Track
- Extension of Two Foot Over Bridges (FOB) from Platform No. 4/5 to New Platform No. 6/7
Completed Works
The project has already achieved significant milestones, including:
- Pit Line Construction with Pile Foundation
- Construction of Two Overhead Water Tanks (2.25 Lakh Liters Each)
- Dismantling of Four Old Stabling Sidings
- Platform Walling (1060m out of 1200m)
- Dismantling of Four Stabling Lines
- Completion of 1118m Raft out of 1200m Washable Apron for PF No. 6 & 7
- Underground Water Tanks (4.5 Lakh Litre Capacity)
- Asphalt Road (7000 sq. Mtr)

Ongoing Works
The project is currently advancing with:
- Platform Cover Shed Foundation Work
- Construction of Wide Island Platforms with Tracks
- Dismantling of Existing Old Tracks
- Slewing of Tracks
- Extension of FOB from PF No. 4/5 to PF No. 6/7
Impact on Lokmanya Tilak Terminus LTT
Upon completion, the two new platforms will significantly improve train mobility at LTT, reducing congestion and enhancing the overall railway experience for commuters. The project is a crucial step towards modernizing and expanding the railway infrastructure in the region.
