Vijayapura Mangaluru Express train service period extended

The Vijayapura Mangaluru Express special train links Mangaluru city and the renowned pilgrimage site Kuke Subramanya to the central and northern regions of Karnataka, including commercial and tourist hubs like Vijayapura, Badami, Bagalkot, Gadag, Hubballi, and Davangere.

The patronage of the Vijayapura Mangaluru Express special train is steadily increasing due to the limited travel options between these destinations. Currently, there is no air connectivity, and road travel can be inconvenient due to Ghat. While a few private and government buses do operate between these cities, the ticket prices are often unregulated and can be unaffordable.

The cities and towns along this route are significant from tourism, education, healthcare, and commerce perspectives. Hence, there is a persistent demand for this train, which offers affordable and comfortable travel.

Service period extended up to Year end

Considering the train’s popularity as the only service connecting Mangaluru City with the Northern and Central parts of Karnataka, and with the upcoming festival seasons rush, the South Western Railway (SWR) has extended the services of the Vijayapura Mangaluru Express special train.

The special train will maintain the existing timings, stoppages, coach composition, and fare structure.
