Member of Parliament, Mysuru, Shri Pratap Simha met the Union Railway Minister on friday. He requested for early introduction of Mysuru – Rameshwaram and Mysuru – Barmer weekly trains.
Mysuru Rameshwaram Weekly train
Following up on his letter dated July 31, 2023, the Member of Parliament (MP) met with the Union Railway Minister on Friday to expedite the introduction of a weekly train service between Mysuru and Rameshwaram. In the MP’s letter, a proposal was put forth to efficiently utilise the idle time of the Mysuru-Varanasi Superfast Express rake at the Mysuru junction. With the aim of establishing a weekly connection between Mysuru and Rameshwaram.
This new railway connection is expected to improve travel options, promote tourism and pilgrimage activities between these two destinations. The railway route will pass through several significant towns and cities in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, offering a much-needed transportation link for the residents living along this corridor.
Furthermore, Rameshwaram holds great religious and spiritual significance for devotees, and a direct train connection from Mysuru through Bengaluru would facilitate their pilgrimage, thereby promoting religious tourism.

Mysuru Barmer Weekly Train
In another request, the Member of Parliament (MP) has appealed to the Union Railway Minister for the extension of Train No. 14805/06, the Yesvantpur-Barmer Weekly A/C Express to Mysuru.
He retierated that, Mysuru is among the most popular tourist destinations in South India and this train extension would significantly boost tourism prospects. Which is inline with the Union Government’s ambitious plans to increase tourism sector contribution to the country’s GDP. And that Tourism can generate numerous direct and indirect employment opportunities.
Currently, this train links several crucial locations, including Badami, Hubballi, Bagalkot, Solapur, Pune, Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, and others. Offering fast and convenient rail connectivity to Mysuru would play a significant role in achieving these objectives.
The MP’s letter highlights that the South Western Railway has thoroughly examined the proposal regarding its operational and commercial feasibility. And has subsequently submitted recommendations to the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) to issue a notification for extending these services.
Given these positive indicators, the MP requested the Honourable Union Minister of Railways to instruct the concerned officials to take further necessary actions for extending the services of these trains to and from Mysuru.

Train no 14805/06 is already running fully occupied from yesvantpur and there is no need for its extension till mysuru as mostly all the trains which have been extended to mysuru runs empty between mysuru and Bengaluru
