Developing a Crossing Line at Kavalande/KVE Halt Railway Station

MP Pratap Simha stressed that the development of a crossing line at Kavalande Halt Railway Station is crucial to efficient & enhanced train operations between Nanjangud and Chamarajanagar.

Currently, a single-block section connecting Nanjangud and Chamarajanagar is affecting the introduction of new services and longer travel times between stations. To address this issue, the MP has proposed upgrading Kavalande Halt Station to a Crossing station, complete with a loop line (Crossing line). In simpler terms, this upgrade aims to divide the existing single-block section between Nanjangud/NTW and Chamarajanagar/CMNR.

In another proposal, MP Pratap Simha emphasized the need to develop additional stabling lines and coach watering facilities as prerequisites for effective maintenance of existing trains and the introducion of new trains from Chamarajanagar.

Additionally, he pointed out the availability of sufficient vacant land within Chamarajanagar railway station for these facilities. MP drew attention to the rapid industrialization of the Mysuru-Kadakola-Chamarajanagar region, which has been attracting significant investments in recent times. He advised railway officials to prepare an immediate action plan and implement it in response to this growing development in the region.

Proposals a step in the right direction

It is noteworthy to mention that the newly created KIADB Badanaguppe-Kellamballi Industrial estate has attracted investments worth over Rs. 3000 to date.

The new industrial estate is expected to create approximately 10,000 direct and indirect jobs. This will bring in a large number of people to Chamarajanagar, which will increase the demand for transportation services.

Secondary maintenance facilities at Chamarajanagar and the crossing station between Nanjangud and Chamarajanagar section are the two main challenges that need to be addressed. These constraints are throttling the augmentation of train services towards Chamarajanagar.

In this regard, the MP’s proposals to develop railway infrastructure at Chamarajanagar are timely and significant.
