Yesvantpur Vijayapura Express is a popular train that connects Bengaluru with historic cities like Hosapete, Badami, and Vijayapura, which host UNESCO heritage sites.
The train was introduced as a special express train to cater to the rush and also it was the first passenger train service after the gauge conversion of Harrihara – Kotturu – Hosapete railway line.
Now the train is emerging as an alternate convenient travel option for people from the northern parts of Karnataka who work in Bengaluru and vice versa. This train has also gained greater significance from a Tourism point of view.
Extension of Service till Year End
Considering the upcoming festival seasons which would lead to heavy rush, the South Western Railway (SWR) has extended the periodicity of Yesvantpur Vijayapura express special trains between Yesvantpur Railway Station and Vijayapura Station.
The extended train service will maintain the existing timings, stoppages, coach composition and fare structure.
Train No. 06545 Yesvantpur – Vijayapura Express Special Daily train, initially set to run from Yesvantpur until September 29, 2023, will now extend its operation until December 31, 2023.
Train No. 06546 Vijayapura – Yesvantpur Express Special Daily train, previously scheduled to run from Vijayapura until September 30, 2023, will now continue to operate until January 1, 2024.

Coach Composition:
The Express special service has a coach composition of One AC three tier, Four Sleeper class, Five General sitting second class and Two Second class luggage cum brake-vans/disabled friendly compartment (12 coaches).
Passengers demand Regularisation and Augmentation of additional Coaches
After the recent extension of the Golgumbaz Express to Pandarapur, the Yesvantpur-Vijayapura Express remains the only dedicated train between Vijayapura and the state capital, Bengaluru. This train operates on the shortest route. Passengers are demanding the railways regularise the service by adding extra coaches with a convenient overnight schedule.
