The airport’s T2 has been recognized globally as one of the ‘World’s Most Beautiful Airports’ and has clinched the coveted ‘World Special Prize for an Interior 2023.’

Global Recognition for Exceptional Design and Architecture
BLR Airport’s Terminal 2 is the sole Indian airport to receive these esteemed accolades, underscoring its commitment to exceptional design and architecture on the world stage. The Prix Versailles, focusing on “intelligent sustainability,” honors innovation, creativity, local heritage reflection, ecological efficiency, and values of social interaction.
Terminal 2: The “Terminal in a Garden”
Inaugurated on November 11, 2022, Kempegowda International Airport Terminal 2, also known as the “Terminal in a Garden,” spans 255,661 square meters. Built upon four foundational pillars—technological leadership, a terminal in a garden, environmental and ecological stewardship, and a celebration of Karnataka’s rich heritage and culture—T2 boasts a unique blend of contemporary yet classic ambiance.
The terminal’s interiors, embraced in engineered bamboo, offer a distinctive aesthetic. Notably, T2 features a spacious indoor garden with rammed-earth walls, waterfalls, and hanging planted bells, contributing to its unique and captivating atmosphere.

Pride and Recognition
Hari Marar, MD & CEO of Bangalore International Airport Ltd, expressed immense pride in Terminal 2’s nomination for the 2023 Prix Versailles Award. He highlighted T2’s unique blend of art and technology, serving as a distinctive gateway and leaving a lasting impression on global travelers.
Sustainable Design and Environmental Responsibility
Terminal 2, designed to accommodate 25 million passengers per annum in Phase 1, combines functionality with aesthetic appeal. The recently launched Art Programme enriches passengers’ journeys with carefully curated art and décor elements.
T2’s sustainable design, the world’s largest terminal pre-certified with a Platinum LEED rating by the US Green Building Council, reflects the airport’s commitment to environmental responsibility. Additionally, it has garnered the prestigious Platinum certification under the IGBC Green New Building rating system.
