Tata Motors, India’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, has taken a giant leap in transforming Bengaluru’s urban commuting landscape by delivering 100 Starbus EVs to the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation – BMTC.
This move is part of a broader agreement between TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd. (a Tata Motors subsidiary) and BMTC Bengaluru, aiming to supply, operate, and maintain 921 state-of-the-art 12-meter low-floor electric buses over a 12-year period.

Technological Advancements
The Tata Starbus EV, an indigenous innovation, now joins BMTC’s fleet, bringing superior design and best-in-class features to enhance sustainable and comfortable commuting experiences. Aligned with the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, these zero-emission electric buses boast next-gen architecture and advanced battery systems, ensuring safe and convenient intra-city travel in Bengaluru.
Inauguration by Dignitaries
The inauguration of Tata Motors’ smart electric bus took place with the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri Siddaramaiah, along with Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri DK Shivakumar, and other dignitaries. This marks a momentous occasion for the city’s public transportation system.

Ms. G Sathyavathi, IAS, Managing Director, BMTC, expressed delight at the induction of Tata Motors’ state-of-the-art buses.
