Gwalior, 16 January: In a significant move to enhance air connectivity, Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia, inaugurated new flight routes connecting Gwalior to Bengaluru, Delhi, and Ayodhya. The inauguration ceremony, attended by Chief Minister Shri Mohan Yadav and other dignitaries, marked a notable milestone in bolstering regional and national air travel.
New Routes for Daily Connectivity
The inaugural flights, flagged off by Shri Scindia and Shri Yadav, will operate daily, connecting Ayodhya, Gwalior, Bangalore, and Delhi. This initiative aims to make air travel more accessible and convenient for citizens while contributing to the overall development of these regions.

Gwalior’s Impressive Growth in Connectivity
Minister Scindia expressed his enthusiasm, highlighting that Gwalior is now connected with six cities – Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Ayodhya, boasting a total of 33 weekly flight movements. He acknowledged Air India Express for its role in connecting Gwalior with Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Delhi.
Gwalior’s New Terminal: A Symbol of Progress
Shri Scindia announced the construction of a new terminal building in Gwalior, valued at Rs. 500 crore, set to be completed in a record time of 16 months. Spanning 2 lakh square feet, the terminal aims to meet the futuristic demands of the region, merging modernity with the rich history, culture, and civilization of Gwalior.
Transformative Impact on Madhya Pradesh
Reflecting on the broader impact on Madhya Pradesh’s aviation sector, Minister Scindia noted a substantial increase in air connectivity, from 13 to 31 cities since 2014. The state has witnessed over 1000 weekly aircraft movements, including international connectivity to Dubai and Sharjah. The government’s commitment extends to infrastructure development in Jabalpur, Rewa, Datia, and Satna, with the establishment of new Flying Training Organisations.

Government’s Dedication to Accessible Air Travel
Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Road Transport and Highways, Gen (Dr) V.K. Singh(Retd.), emphasized the government’s dedication to making air travel more accessible. The daily operations on Bangalore – Gwalior – Delhi – Ayodhya – Delhi – Gwalior – Bangalore routes by Air India Express exemplify this commitment, providing a seven-day-a-week service.
Distinguished Guests at the Event
The inauguration event witnessed the presence of dignitaries such as Minister of Energy Shri Pradhuman Singh Tomar, Minister of Social Justice & Welfare Shri Narayan Singh Kushwah, and Member of Parliament Shri Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar. Officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Airports Authority of India, and the Government of Madhya Pradesh also attended, highlighting the collaborative effort towards enhancing air connectivity in the region.
