Kaynes Technology India Pvt. Ltd. is keen on venturing into the manufacturing of High-Density Interconnect (HDI) boards to enhance the Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) ecosystem.
In the areas of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), Kaynes Technology has chosen not to produce traditional PCBs. Instead, it will concentrate on the production of HDI (High-Density Interconnect) boards. Currently, AT&S in Mysuru handles a limited quantity of these boards.
Kaynes Tech’s objective is to specialize in this area, with approximately 60% to 70% of its production dedicated to HDI boards and around 40% to multi-layer boards. This positioning establishes the company as dedicated to high-tech, high-mix, mid-size volume production.

Kaynes Tech acknowledges that entering the market for conventional double-sided and single-sided PCBs is challenging due to numerous competitors with thin profit margins. To thrive, the company must focus on high-end products, such as 3×3 mil and 2.5×3 mil boards, which cater to the demands of the high-end market and offer more favorable pricing opportunities. Boards with dimensions of 3×3 mil and 2.5×3 mil are indicative of very small and high-precision PCBs.
What are High Density Interconnect Boards?.
HDI (High-Density Interconnect) boards are advanced printed circuit boards designed to provide high interconnect density in a small form factor. They are characterized by having a high number of densely packed components and fine-pitched traces, making them suitable for various high-tech and high-performance applications. HDI boards offer advantages like improved signal integrity, reduced size, and enhanced electrical performance.
HDI (High-Density Interconnect) printed circuit boards find applications in various industries, including satellite communications, automotive driving assistance systems, consumer electronics, aircraft, engine controls, digital cameras, smartphones, and medical devices.
