Chennai, November 6, 2023 – In a groundbreaking development for the Indian transportation industry, Ashok Leyland, the leading commercial vehicle manufacturer in India and the flagship company of the Hinduja Group, commenced the delivery of India’s inaugural LNG-powered haulage truck – the AVTR 1922. The delivery took place in Hosur, where the vehicle was handed over to Mahanagar Gas Limited, marking a significant stride towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly future.

Ashok Leyland now stands as the first Indian Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to introduce an in-house LNG engine that complies with BSVI Stage II emission standards.
