Introduction of the Vande Bharat Sleeper

BEML Limited, a significant player in the defense and railway sectors, has unveiled India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train.

The unveiling ceremony took place at BEML Bengaluru. It was attended by key dignitaries. These included the Union Minister for Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, and other prominent officials from Indian Railways and BEML.

Top-Notch Features for Enhanced Passenger Experience

The Vande Bharat Sleeper trainset is designed to offer a superior travel experience with modern features. The train boasts lightweight, corrosion-resistant interiors made from GFRP panels. It has an aerodynamic exterior design. It also includes crash-worthy elements to ensure passenger safety.

Additionally, it includes a modular pantry, spacious luggage room, and a noise-insulated saloon space for a quieter journey. The train can accommodate 823 passengers across various configurations, including first-class AC and 3 Tier AC.

Emphasis on Safety and Accessibility

Safety is a primary focus for the Vande Bharat Sleeper, meeting European rolling stock standards. The train is equipped with fire safety systems, crash-worthy couplers, and specially designed fire barrier doors.

It also includes provisions for differently-abled passengers, such as automatic exterior doors and a sensor-based intercommunication system.

Innovation in Design and Technology

BEML’s team has ensured that the train’s design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional. The propulsion system, bogie system, brake systems, HVAC, and exterior plug doors have all been meticulously developed.

The train is equipped with a hot water shower in the first-class AC car. It also has an odor-free toilet system. These features enhance passenger comfort.
