New Delhi, August 29, 2024: HFCL Limited, a leading technology enterprise specializing in next-generation communications solutions, has successfully completed one of the world’s largest deployments of a Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) with Control and User Plane Separation (CUPS) architecture for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). This significant project, valued at approximately INR 390 crore, marks a major milestone in enhancing BSNL’s network infrastructure and supporting India’s digital transformation.
Enhancing BSNL’s Network Efficiency
The deployment of the advanced BNG with CUPS architecture is a strategic upgrade to BSNL’s existing network, aimed at significantly boosting efficiency, scalability, and service quality. The new architecture enables the separation of the control and user plane functions, allowing for independent management and expansion. This enhancement will not only improve BSNL’s Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) services but will also better serve high-end enterprise customers, providing them with more reliable, accessible, and affordable broadband services.
Supporting BharatNet and India’s Digital Vision
In addition to upgrading BSNL’s broadband network, the new BNG infrastructure will serve as the Internet Gateway for the Government of India’s BharatNet project, which aims to connect over 1.5 lakh Gram Panchayats across the country. This deployment is critical to the upcoming expansion of BharatNet under Phase-III, further bridging the digital divide in rural and remote areas.
A Milestone in Network Modernization
The nationwide implementation of this advanced CUPS-based BNG architecture by HFCL underscores BSNL’s commitment to modernizing its network to meet the growing demands of India’s digital economy. By enhancing network capabilities, BSNL can now offer superior high-speed data services, ensuring a seamless experience for both enterprise and residential users. This project positions BSNL as a key player in driving digital inclusion across India, aligning with the government’s vision of a connected and digitally empowered nation.
