In a significant development, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, holding the portfolio of Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and MoS in PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, laid the foundation stone for the road project from Ramnagar to Ramwail in Udhampur district.
Project Overcame Lengthy Litigation
The vital connectivity project, involving an outlay of 2.96 crore rupees, had been entangled in legal disputes for an extended period. However, due to the personal efforts of Dr Jitendra Singh, the litigation was resolved, clearing the way for the foundation stone to be laid.

Prime Minister Modi’s Leadership Ensures Remote Connectivity
Addressing the gathering, Dr Singh highlighted the government’s commitment, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, to ensuring road connectivity in the remotest regions of Udhampur. He emphasized the significant progress in road infrastructure, noting that in the last nine-and-a-half years, the total length of roads built has doubled to more than 8 lakh kilometres.
Udhampur Among Top PMGSY Road Projects
Dr Jitendra Singh proudly mentioned that Udhampur has consistently ranked among the top three PMGSY road projects in the country. He reminisced about the initiation of PMGSY under former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and contrasted the progress made during the last decade.

Equitable Development Promised by Prime Minister Modi
Expressing concern over the lack of attention in the past, Dr Singh acknowledged Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to developing all regions equitably. He emphasized the transformative impact, stating that under Modi’s patronage, facilities in remote areas have been upgraded beyond previous expectations.
Remarkable Achievements in Udhampur Constituency
Dr Jitendra Singh shared notable achievements in his constituency, including being the sole recipient of two Vande Bharat Express trains, three Centrally-funded medical colleges, and various other projects, such as the Devika River Rejuvenation project, Katra-Delhi Express road corridor, north India’s first Industrial Biotech Park, and the national level Shahpur Kandi Irrigation project.
