New Delhi, February, 2024: Embraer Defense & Security and Mahindra have officially announced a collaborative effort aimed at acquiring the C-390 Millennium multi-mission aircraft for the Indian Air Force’s upcoming Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) procurement project. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) solidifying this partnership was signed at the Embassy of Brazil in New Delhi.
Strengthening ‘Make in India’
Bosco da Costa Junior, President & CEO of Embraer Defense & Security, expressed honor in partnering with Mahindra, citing India’s robust defense and aerospace industry. He emphasized Embraer’s support for India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative and highlighted the collaboration as a means to bolster relations between Brazil and India while fostering cooperation among Global South nations.

Identifying Next Steps
Embraer and Mahindra are set to engage with the Indian Air Force to determine the subsequent actions for the MTA program. Additionally, they will collaborate with the local aerospace industry in India to commence the development of an industrialization plan for the project.

Vinod Sahay, President of Mahindra’s Aerospace & Defence Sector, expressed pride in the partnership with Embraer, praising the company’s engineering excellence and the C-390 Millennium’s advanced capabilities. Industrial Collaboration
The MoU was inked by Embraer Defense & Security and Mahindra Defence Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mahindra specializing in armoured transport and security-related products, including electronics.
