CONCOR Extends Agreement with CCBL, the Container Company of Bangladesh Ltd to Boost Cross-Border Trade

Container Corporation of India Ltd (NSE:CONCOR), led by its CMD, Sri Sanjay Swarup, signed a significant addendum to the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Container Company of Bangladesh Ltd (CCBL) on February 13, 2024. Dr. Md Humayun Kabir, Secretary, Ministry of Railways, Bangladesh, represented CCBL and Bangladesh Railway by signing the addendum.

Key Points:

  • The addendum extends the existing agreement between CONCOR and CCBL till April 7, 2027.
  • The original MoU, established in 2017, aimed to develop modalities for running container trains between India and Bangladesh to facilitate cross-border trade and enhance infrastructure and logistics services.
  • CONCOR, a Navratna CPSU under the Ministry of Railways, Govt of India, has facilitated container train movements between India and Bangladesh through various border routes, benefiting the trade community of both countries.
  • CONCOR has also provided project-related services for developing Inland Container Depots at locations like Sirajganj and Ishurdih in Bangladesh.
  • In alignment with Indian Railways, Ministry of External Affairs, and Ministry of Commerce guidelines, CONCOR has actively contributed to the overall development of railway and logistics infrastructure in Bangladesh.

The extension of the MoU strengthens international containerized trade systems and cooperation between India and Bangladesh, fostering continued economic growth and collaboration between the neighboring countries.
