New Delhi: In a significant development for India’s manufacturing sector, Airbus Helicopters has announced a collaboration with the Tata Group to set up a Final Assembly Line (FAL) for helicopters in the country.
Boost to ‘Make in India’
The partnership aims to bolster the ‘Make in India’ initiative, with the FAL slated to produce Airbus’ popular H125 helicopter from its civil range. These helicopters will cater to the domestic market in India and will also be exported to neighboring countries.

This initiative marks a milestone as it will be the first time the private sector in India will establish a helicopter manufacturing facility. The collaboration aligns with the Government of India’s vision of ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India).

Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), a subsidiary of the Tata Group, will join forces with Airbus Helicopters to set up the facility. The announcement was made during the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to India as the Chief Guest at the Republic Day celebrations.
Manufacturing Process
The FAL will handle various stages of manufacturing, including integration of components, avionics, and mission systems, along with testing and qualification processes. The setup is expected to take 24 months, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2026.
