Mumbai, India: A.P. Moller – Maersk, a global integrated logistics company, is set to enhance its Cold Chain Logistics presence with the construction of a new Cold Store facility in Mehsana, Gujarat. The facility, spanning 260,000 sq. ft., will focus on providing temperature-controlled storage solutions for frozen processed food items.
State-of-the-Art Facility for HyFun Foods
The groundbreaking ceremony took place at the Fanidhar Mega Food Park, where Maersk’s new Cold Store facility will serve as the mother Cold Store for HyFun Foods. The 14,700-pallet position facility, one of India’s largest single-shed cold stores, aims to streamline storage processes for perishable goods.

Unbroken Cold Chain Logistics
Vikash Agarwal, Managing Director of Maersk South Asia, emphasized the importance of maintaining an unbroken cold chain for frozen food items. The facility in Mehsana will feature a customized racking system and modern technology to ensure precise temperature compliance and operational accuracy throughout the logistics process.
Integrated End-to-End Logistics
The new Cold Store facility will play a crucial role in Maersk’s integrated cold chain solution. This solution covers landside transportation, coordination at the port, customs clearances, and ocean transportation, ensuring a seamless journey for the cargo from the manufacturing facility to the port.

Kamlesh Karamchandani, Director of Sales & Marketing at HyFun Foods, highlighted the operational and sustainable excellence of the facility. The cold store will utilize Ammonia refrigeration, a natural gas with zero Global Warming Potential, and high-efficiency compressors with lower power consumption. Safety standards, including fire resistance and detection systems, will be adhered to, ensuring a human-friendly staging area.
Commitment to Green Initiatives
In alignment with Maersk’s commitment to NetZero by 2040, the facility will be powered by solar energy. Green Building requirements, such as rain harvesting, sewage treatment plants, and zero discharge, are integral to the construction and operations plan. These measures underscore Maersk’s dedication to environmentally friendly logistics solutions.
