Tata Power’s Renewable Growth
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) is a subsidiary of Tata Power. It has been awarded a significant contract from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).
This contract is for a 400 MW hybrid wind-solar project. This contract is the largest of its kind in Maharashtra. It includes an initial 200 MW capacity, with the option to add another 200 MW.
Fulfilling Renewable Obligations
The project is designed to meet Maharashtra’s Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPO) and to supply clean energy to MSEDCL. The power generated from this project will significantly reduce carbon emissions by around 895 million kilograms of CO2 each year.
Sustainability and Growth
This project is expected to be completed in 24 months and will efficiently utilize local land while enhancing regional development. With this, TPREL’s total renewable energy capacity has grown to 10.5 GW, contributing to India’s green energy goals.
