New Terminal and Modern Facilities

Tuticorin Airport is undergoing a significant upgrade to meet the growing demand for better passenger services. This development includes the construction of a new terminal building, an extended runway, and other improvements.

The new terminal will be able to handle 1,440 passengers during peak hours and cater to 20 lakh passengers annually. It will feature modern facilities, including three aerobridges, to improve the travel experience.

Runway Extension and Infrastructure Upgrades

One of the key aspects of the upgrade is the extension of the runway from 1,350 meters to 3,115 meters. This extension allows the airport to accommodate larger aircraft like the Airbus A-321.

Boost to Local Economy and Tourism

Currently, Tuticorin Airport handles six daily flights connecting to Chennai and Bengaluru, serving 156 passengers at peak times.

The upgrade will allow the airport to handle much larger volumes of passengers and aircraft. It will promote trade and tourism in Tuticorin and nearby districts, including Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Kanyakumari, and Virudanagar.
