Collaboration Aims to Boost Renewable Energy Integration and Grid Stability Through Innovative Battery Storage Solutions
In a significant move towards advancing India’s clean energy goals, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore opportunities in the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) sector. The partnership, announced at India Energy Week 2025, aims to develop innovative solutions across the BESS value chain, including grid stabilization, renewable energy integration, and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
The collaboration aligns with India’s ambitious renewable energy targets and underscores the growing importance of energy storage in ensuring grid reliability. TPREL, a subsidiary of Tata Power, recently commissioned India’s largest Solar and BESS project in Chhattisgarh, showcasing its expertise in large-scale energy storage systems.
Mr. Deepesh Nanda, CEO of TPREL, emphasized the critical role of BESS in India’s energy transition, while ONGC’s Chairman, Mr. Arun Kumar Singh, highlighted the partnership’s potential to strengthen energy security and sustainability. Together, the companies aim to pioneer solutions that support a resilient and future-ready energy ecosystem.
