Tata Chemicals Limited (TCL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BAIF Development Research Foundation, Pune, on September 3, 2024. This partnership aims to explore the production of Spineless Cactus and Hybrid Napier. It furthers Tata Chemicals’ commitment to sustainability. It also supports rural development.
Partnership for Agricultural Innovation
Through this MoU, TCL and BAIF aim to combine their expertise. BAIF brings its knowledge of agricultural practices, biodiversity conservation, and climate-smart farming.
Tata Chemicals contributes its skills in nutrition biosciences, nanotechnology, and agrochemistry. Together, they plan to develop innovative products that will benefit farmers, providing new solutions in bio-energy, fodder, and bio-based products.
Empowering Farmers and Rural Communities
Dr. Richard Lobo, Head of Innovation and R&D at Tata Chemicals, expressed excitement about the collaboration. He emphasized the goal of creating scalable products for farmers. Examples include Spineless Cactus and Hybrid Napier.
He also emphasized delivering bio-energy solutions. Dr. Bharat Kakade, President of BAIF, highlighted the partnership’s potential to introduce new technologies. These technologies will improve rural livelihoods. They will also support climate-smart agriculture.
