JAL Expands Flights to Bengaluru

Bangalore International Airport Ltd manages Kempegowda International Airport (BLR Airport). It has announced an increase in flight services by Japan Airlines (JAL). JAL will increase its flight services from Bengaluru to Tokyo. Starting in the last week of October, JAL will operate five flights per week on the Tokyo-Bengaluru route. This is an increase from the current three flights per week.

This expansion further enhances Bengaluru’s role as a key gateway for South and Central India. It makes travel easier for passengers from Bengaluru and nearby areas. BLR Airport remains the only airport in South India with direct flights to Japan. JAL is the only airline offering this important connection.

Modern Aircraft for Comfort

JAL operates a Boeing B787-8 on this route, which offers seating for 186 passengers in two classes. This increase in flights is expected to boost passenger convenience and contribute to regional economic growth.

This move will enhance travel experiences and help connect Bengaluru to major global business and tourism hubs.”

Rising Passenger Demand

Japan Airlines started its operations at BLR Airport in April 2020. Since then, passenger numbers between Bengaluru and Japan have grown significantly. In 2022, 23,532 passengers traveled between these two destinations, and by 2023, the number had surged by 167.55%, with 62,959 passengers, highlighting the growing demand for both business and leisure travel.
