SWR Initiates Electrification Surveys for New Lines

In a significant step towards modernizing railway infrastructure, the South Western Railway (SWR) is gearing up to conduct surveys for electrification of various new lines under construction.

The DY CEE/TRD/CN/BNC has initaited E-Tenders related to these electrification surveys.

Survey Works

Electrification of Specific Sections:

1. Ginigera – Raichur: Entire section
2. Gadag – Wadi: Entire section
3. Bagalkot – Kudachi: Entire section
4. Tumkur – Rayadurga:
   • Tumkur (0km) to Koratagere (29.50 km)
   • Pavagada (107.800 km) to Doddahalli (122.650 km)
   • Doddahalli (122.650 km) to Rayadurga (206.53 km)
5. Tumkur – Davangere:
   • Urukere (11.00km) to Thimmarahanahalli (24.500 km)
   • Chitradurga (141.650 km) to Tholahunse (193.240 km)

Additional Electrification Sections:

1. Dharwad – Belagavi: Entire section
2. Tumkur – Rayadurga: Koratagere (29.50 km) to Pavagada (107.800 km)
3. Tumkur – Davangere: Thimmarahanahalli (24.500 km) to Chitradurga (141.650 km)
4. Shikaripura- Ranibennur: Entire section
5. Alur – Belur: Entire section

Scope of Work : Electrification of Specific Sections

The extensive scope of work involves a meticulous foot-by-foot survey and the preparation of OHE drawings, including pegging plans, wiring diagrams, and sectioning diagrams. General Power Supply arrangements, location plans for traction sub-stations, Switching Stations, OHE depot & Tower Car sidings are crucial aspects.

Additionally, the scope includes:

• Quantity Schedule as per requirement, considering Track Layout/Signal Locations.
• Obtaining feasibility of the supply source for proposed TSS from nearby GSS.
• Coordinating with KPTCL authorities for seamless execution.
• Surveying the route length of the transmission line.
• Evaluating compensation along the identified route as per statutory provisions.

Scope of Work : Additional Electrification Sections

The project involves creating crucial OHE drawings, which include wiring diagrams, sectioning diagrams, and General Power Supply arrangements.

• Details Covered: The drawings encompass all necessary details for electrification, available in both hard copies and editable AutoCAD soft copies.
• Electrification Focus: The main goal is to electrify specific sections using a 25kV AT Feeding system, specifically utilizing a 2x25kV OHE (Overhead Equipment).

These developmental works by South Western Railway (SWR) will significantly contribute to the efficiency of the railway network in the region.
