MP Pratap Simha has urged the Railway Minister Shri Ashwani Vaishnav for taking up doubling between Mysuru Jn and Ashokapuram as well as the realignment of Mysuru-Chamarajanagar railway line near Mysore Airport.

Doubling between Mysuru Jn – Ashokapuram Railway Station

With the yard remodelling works of Ashokapuram railway station nearing completion it is certain to emerge as the next terminal for Mysuru city. Important infrastructure works like addition of two new platforms & stabling lines are being executed. Additional infrastructure would lead to increased train traffic to the station putting strain on the existing single track between Mysuru Junction & Ashokapuram. To cater to the future increase in traffic a proposal to double the track between the two stations has been put forth by the MP.

Another important issue that was discussed was the delay in the installation of Overhead electrification(OHE) on a 900 Meters railway stretch running close to the Airport limits. Citing the aircraft safety concerns caused due to the electromagnetic interference of airport radar signals in the presence of OHE, the AAI has not accorded No Objection Certificate for the railways to proceed with the works.
