Mysuru MP, Shri Pratap Simha, has made a compelling request to the Railway Minister, Shri Ashwini Vaishnav, urging the extension of Train No. 16585/86 from Mangaluru Central (MAQ) to Karwar (KAWR) with additional coaches. The proposed extension aims to enhance connectivity between Mysore and various significant destinations in the coastal region, encompassing pilgrimage sites, tourist hotspots, trading centers, and renowned educational institutions.

The memo presented by the MP emphasized the importance of the railway connection in linking Mysuru to the coastal region, encompassing vital educational centers like Mangaluru and Manipal. Additionally, the revered pilgrimage centers of Subhramanya, Udupi, Byndoor-Mookambika, Murdeshwara, and Gokarna would also be seamlessly accessible through this extension.

Drawing attention to the existing tri-weekly flight between Mysuru and Goa, the MP highlighted the feasibility and potential of extending the train service to Karwar, which is situated only 60 KM from Madagon in Goa. This extension would open up new travel options for the rail users from districts such as Ramanagara, Mandya, Mysuru, and Hassan, while also benefiting nearby districts and towns like Chamarajnagar, Puttur, Bantwal, and Kodagu.

One of the key benefits of this proposed train extension is the convenience it would offer to senior citizens, women, and children who often find road travel through ghat sections challenging. Train journeys are widely recognized for their safety and affordability, making them a preferred mode of travel for many passengers.

The MP expressed his confidence and hope for positive and affirmative action from the Railway Ministry to materialize this significant enhancement of rail connectivity. With the extension of Train No. 16585/86 to Karwar and the subsequent increase in its frequency from 6 days to daily, the people of the region can look forward to improved travel options and better accessibility to the coastal destinations.
