Key Railway Developments Discussed

A review meeting was held today at Rail Soudha in Hubballi. The purpose was to assess the ongoing railway projects in the Haveri-Gadag Lok Sabha constituency. The meeting was led by MP Basavaraj Bommai. It focused on the progress of railway projects and plans for new developments in the region.

Focus on Haveri District

MP Basavaraj Bommai emphasized the need for faster implementation of key railway projects in Haveri. He directed officials to renovate several railway stations between Yalavigi, Haveri, Byadagi, Ranebennur, and Chalageri.

He also highlighted the importance of constructing a railway bridge near Yalavigi. Additionally, he emphasised replacing the low-level bridge with an overpass near Yalavigi village in Savanur Taluk.

Gadag District Railway Plans

The review also focused on Gadag district, where multiple projects are in progress. Bommai instructed officials to prioritise the construction of the Gadag-Yalavigi railway line and several bridges, including one on Gadag-Hombal Road.

He also reviewed the ongoing work for the Gadag-Gajendragad-Wadi line. He called for repairs to the underpass at Ballari Gate between Gadag and Betageri.

New Railway Lines and Land Acquisition

New railway lines were also a key part of the discussions. There are plans to expedite land acquisition for the Gadag-Shirahatti-Yalavigi and Ranebennur-Shikaripura lines.

The MP stressed the need for timely completion of these projects to improve connectivity in the region.

Train Stops and Public Requests

Bommai also instructed officials to take necessary steps to ensure the Vande Bharat Express stops at Haveri. He also asked them to ensure that other major trains stop at Yalavigi Station. These include the Jan Shatabdi, Kittur Rani Chennamma, Yesvantpur-Vasco Express, and Mangalore-Vijayapura Express. Additionally, he addressed a public request for a change in the location of the Hulakoti-Yalavigi railway survey near Kanavi village.

The meeting included South Western Railway (SWR) General Manager Arvind Srivastava and other railway department officials. ZRUCC member Shri Mahendra Singhi also participated in the meeting.
