Railway Infrastructure Meeting Held in Hubballi
A crucial meeting took place at Rail Soudha, Hubballi. The meeting was between Shri Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri, Hon’ble MP of Uttara Kannada. It also included Shri Arvind Srivastava, General Manager of South Western Railway (SWR).
The primary focus of the meeting was the development of railway infrastructure in the Uttara Kannada region. The aim was to improve connectivity and boost economic growth.
Key Railway Projects Discussed
During the meeting, several important railway projects were discussed, including:
- Hubballi-Talaguppa Railway Line
A final location survey (FSL) contract, marking a significant step towards improving connectivity. - Bengaluru-Murudeshwar Express Extension
Plans were discussed to extend this service up to Karwar. This extension will benefit passengers traveling to coastal Karnataka. - Railway Overpass at Khanapur, Belagavi
The construction of an overpass at Khanapur was reviewed. A request was made to introduce a stop for the Belagavi-Bengaluru Express at this station. - Progress of Hubballi-Ankola Railway Line
Discussions also included the ongoing work on the Hubballi-Ankola railway line. This is a key project for the region.
Development of Stations and Services
Additional points of focus included the completion of railway station works at Londa. Castle Rock was also a point of focus.
Additionally, the development of Khanapur station was highlighted. The recommencement of train services between Dharwad and Dandeli was also emphasised as a priority.
New Projects for Enhanced Connectivity
Shri Kageri also urged the introduction of new railway projects. These projects include a line between Talaguppa and Honnavar. Another line would be between Dharwad, Kittur, and Belagavi. These lines would further enhance regional connectivity.
