A Need for Improved Connectivity
Minister N. Chaluvarayaswamy has called for the construction of a new railway line. It would connect Mysuru and Tumakuru via several key locations, including Melukote and Nagamangala. The proposed line aims to serve both students and pilgrims who frequently travel between these areas. Currently, road transportation is the only option for those commuting from Mysuru to Tumakuru through B.G. Nagar, which is a hub for education and pilgrimage.
Key Locations on the Proposed Route
B.G. Nagar, located in Mandya District, is home to several educational institutions, including engineering, medical, and pharmacy colleges. Additionally, the area is a significant pilgrimage center, drawing thousands of people daily. The proposed railway line would run through prominent locations such as Melukote, a famous pilgrimage center, as well as Nagamangala.
Benefits of the New Railway Line
The introduction of this 120 km railway line from Pandavapura to Tumakuru via B.G. Nagar would greatly enhance convenience for people traveling between these regions. It would pass through four important taluks and connect two major pilgrimage centers. This infrastructure development would improve transportation for students, businesspeople, farmers, and pilgrims. It would also promote economic growth in the region.
A Request for Sanction
Chaluvarayaswamy has urged Union Railway Minister and MoSR V Somanna to expedite the approval of this project. He highlighted the benefits it would bring to local communities. With railway stations already in place at Pandavapura and B.G. Nagar, this new line provide a seamless and efficient travel option for thousands of people.
