One billion USD to power Mahindra’s “Born Again” vehicle platform
Valeo, a global pioneer in mobility technology and a trailblazer in transportation electrification, has been selected as the preferred partner by Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), India’s foremost SUV manufacturer. This collaboration signifies Valeo’s role in furnishing the cutting-edge electric powertrain for Mahindra & Mahindra’s “Born Electric” passenger vehicle platform and delivering the advanced onboard charger combo for their electric utility vehicles. The total order is close to 1 billion dollars.

A manufacturing unit is being set up in Pune
At the forefront of this transformative journey is Valeo, a global powerhouse in powertrain electrification, committed to catering to the diverse needs of all road users. To localize the production of the electric powertrain in India, Valeo is set to make a significant investment in close proximity to the Mahindra plant in Pune, Maharashtra. This investment encompasses the manufacturing of crucial components –
- Electric motor,
- Inverter,
- Gearbox. Additionally,
- Integrated 3-in-1 bi-directional Combo power electronics,
The power electronics seamlessly incorporate the Onboard Charger (OBC), the DC-DC converter, and the Power Distribution Unit (PDU). This collaborative effort ensures that Mahindra & Mahindra’s electric vehicles not only meet but exceed the highest standards of innovation and sustainability.

Mahindra’s INGLO Platform
** INGLO is a modular platform for electric vehicles (EVs) that Mahindra is using to build its new range of EVs. The platform is based on a skateboard that houses batteries, electric motors, and other electronic components. Mahindra says the INGLO platform is highly customizable.
The INGLO platform will be used to build SUVs that will range between 4,368mm and 4,735mm. The platform will underpin Mahindra’s new range of EVs, including the XUV and BE (Born Electric) portfolios
