Investments made and proposed at JSW Cement Vijayanagar Works

The company has already made an investment of Rs 1111 Crores in the facility until now.

In pursuit of its goal to double the capacity to 12 MTPA, the company is set to invest Rs 1215 crores, a move that is expected to generate hundreds of direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Started in 2003, the Vijayanagar Works comprises two manufacturing units situated within the sprawling 150-acre campus of the JSW Group. Strategically located adjacent to the JSW Steel complex, these units benefit from a consistent and ample supply of slag from the steel mill.

Circular Economy and Resource Conservation Practices

Incorporating circular economy principles and resource conservation practices, JSW cement factories utilize industrial waste such as slag from JSW steel plants to manufacture blended cement. This eco-friendly product not only contributes to environmental sustainability but also possesses higher strength compared to standard cement.

At JSW Cement’s Vijaynagar Works and other facilities, clinker is blended with additional cementitious materials like fly ash and slag to produce blended cement. This results in a substantially reduced carbon footprint compared to Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC). Both Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) and Portland Slag Cement (PSC) contain a significant proportion of slag, leading to decreased consumption of virgin limestone, a lower clinker factor, and consequently, reduced emissions and energy usage.

Also at their Vijayanagar works, they have tied up with JSW Energy to put up an 8 MW Ground mounted solar power plant to reduce the unit cost of power
