Indian Railways has initiated the process of constructing a new 23.400 kilometers Shorapur Shahpur Railway Line Under Gadag (GDG) – Wadi (WADI) New Line Project (257 Km) Including Signalling, Telecommunication & Electrical Works on EPC Mode.
Project Brief
Length in km: 23.400
Estimated Project Cost (In Rs.): 551,54,47,224.20
No. of months for completion of work: 24 Months
Broad Scope of Work
The Gadag-Wadi New Line Project involves the construction of a new railway line between Chainage 187/100 and Chainage 210/500, connecting Shorapur (inclusive) to Shahpur (exclusive) with a length of 23.400 km.
This new line is part of the broader Gadag-Wadi New Line Project, which has a total length of 257 km.The project aims to design and construct a single-line railway with an ‘absolute block system’ at a maximum train speed of 110 km/h, and an initial axle load capacity of 25 tonnes. The formation, track, and bridge structures will be built to support this 25-tonne axle load.
The scope of work includes the design and construction of various components such as civil, building, electrical, signalling, telecommunication, and track works. The project includes the construction of the following:
- 18 major bridges
- 48 minor bridges
- 25 road under bridges
- 1 road over bridge with approaches
Additionally, the project includes any associated works related to manufacturing, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning for a Single Line Railway capable of operating at a speed of 110 km/h. This involves designing and constructing formation in embankments/cuttings, bridges, structures, and buildings (including station buildings and service buildings), laying ballast on the formation, and conducting track works.
The new railway line will also be integrated into the existing Indian Railway system, and testing and commissioning will be part of the project.
The project is to be executed under a design-build lump sum price contract, where the responsibility for both design and construction lies with the contractor, and the contract amount is fixed.
