Coal Logistics Plan & Policy to be Launched by Ministry Of Coal

Under the patronage of the Ministry of Coal, the Indian National Committee World Mining Congress is set to host an event to introduce the “Coal Logistics Plan & Policy” on February 29, 2024, at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

The event will witness the esteemed presence of Union Minister of Coal, Mines, and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Pralhad Joshi, who will grace the occasion and unveil the “Coal Logistics Plan & Policy”. Distinguished attendees will include senior officials from NITI Aayog and various ministries, such as Coal, Railways, Power, Steel, Mines, Shipping Port & Waterways, alongside industry representatives from Coal, Steel, Power, and other sectors.

Initiatives for India’s Energy Security

The Ministry of Coal has undertaken several initiatives to bolster India’s energy security, with a target to produce 1.5 BT of coal by FY 2030. Aiming for a resilient and sustainable coal logistics ecosystem, the integrated Coal Logistics Plan and Policy have been crafted to incorporate advanced technology, cost-effectiveness, and reduced dependence on imported coal, aligning with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

Comprehensive Action Plan for Coal Logistics Infrastructure

In line with the objective of nearly doubling coal production by 2030, the Ministry of Coal has devised a comprehensive action plan for the development of coal logistics infrastructure nationwide. Key projects encompass First-mile Connectivity, waterways transportation, augmentation of rail evacuation capacities, and coastal shipping of coal.

Stimulating Inclusive Infrastructure Development

The event endeavors to foster detailed discussions and gather suggestions for the inclusive development of infrastructure across the nation, with a particular emphasis on optimizing coal evacuation processes.
