CFTRI (Central Food Technological Research Institute) has established a Common Incubation Centre (CIC) with the purpose of providing facilities for the production of coffee and banana-based products. The project is funded by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries under PMFME.
CFTRI’s Support to One District One Product
Banana and coffee are the chosen products for the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative in Mysuru and Kodagu districts. To support entrepreneurs in this field, CFTRI Mysuru has established an Incubation Center. It has a special production line for making banana and coffee-based products.
Banana products like banana bars, dehydrated banana, and banana powder. While the coffee-based products include roasted beans, ground coffee powder, coffee extract and concentrate, and spray-dried coffee powder.
As per the scheme guidelines, once the Incubation Centre is commissioned, a third-party or private agency will take over its Operation & Management (O&M) to operate it commercially.
Activities of the Incubation center at CFTRI
The Incubation Center’s processing facilities will be open to use by existing and aspiring micro-entrepreneurs, self-help groups (SHGs), cooperatives, and other organizations through the O&M agency.
Under the scheme, Common Incubation Centers will facilitate the following activities:
