AirAsia Expands Reach to India, Resumes Flights to Visakhapatnam

Malaysian Airline to Provide Direct Connectivity to Picturesque City

AirAsia, the Malaysian airline known for its extensive network, is enhancing connectivity to India by resuming flights to the picturesque city of Visakhapatnam. This move marks AirAsia as the sole Malaysian airline offering direct flights to the city.

Flight Resumption Details

Starting from April 26, 2024, AirAsia will operate flights to Visakhapatnam three times a week. Visakhapatnam, also known as ‘Vizag’, is renowned for its scenic beauty, historical landmarks, and traditional festivals. The city, nestled along the Bay of Bengal, boasts lush landscapes and serene beaches, attracting travelers worldwide.

Special Fare Offer

To celebrate the resumption of this route, AirAsia is offering special fares until February 14, 2024. The starting fare for one-way trips is RM199* for flights from Malaysia to Visakhapatnam and INR4,999* for flights from Visakhapatnam to Kuala Lumpur. Travel dates are from April 26, 2024, to March 19, 2025.

CEO’s Statement

Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, expressed excitement about the expansion, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to making travel affordable and accessible. Lingam highlighted Visakhapatnam as a significant addition to AirAsia’s growing network in India, enhancing cultural and economic ties between the two nations.

Expansion Plans

AirAsia’s expansion in India includes the launch of three other routes this year: Thiruvananthapuram in February, Jaipur in April, and Ahmedabad in May. With existing routes to cities like Chennai, Hyderabad, and New Delhi, AirAsia aims to provide seamless and inexpensive travel options across India and beyond.

As AirAsia continues to expand its presence in India, travelers can expect more opportunities to explore the diverse cultural and natural wonders of the region.
