Today, during the event, the Thermax Group unveiled key announcements that reflect its vision and future in line with global energy transition goals.
Bio-CNG Plant Orders Exceeding Rs. 500 Crore
Through one of its subsidiaries, Thermax Group secured orders worth over Rs. 500 crore from a leading energy conglomerate. The orders involve the establishment of five bio-CNG plants across India, located in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra (2), and Uttar Pradesh. These plants, boasting a capacity to produce 110 tonnes per day (TPD) of bio-CNG, will utilize local feedstock exceeding 1,000 TPD, including rice straw, Napier grass, cane trash, and soya trash. The bio-CNG produced will be used for both commercial and captive purposes, aligning with Thermax’s broader initiative in biochemicals and bioenergy.
Leadership in Biomass-Based Green Energy Solutions
Thermax is the largest provider of biomass-based green energy solutions, offering a range of products, hybrid energy systems, complex engineering projects, and green steam/power as a service. The company has invested in a biomass-sourcing supply chain for captive consumption to ensure a consistent biomass fuel supply.
1 GW Hybrid Renewable Energy Solutions by FY 2027
In its commitment to clean energy, Thermax plans to install 1 GW of hybrid renewable energy solutions by FY 2027. These projects will be both intra-state and inter-state, catering to industries with diverse clean electricity requirements. Included in this initiative is a state-of-the-art wind and solar bundled captive power project in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Thermax currently manages an operational portfolio of 140 MWp, with additional projects under construction and in development.
Gasification Plants for Coal Processing
Thermax aims to develop gasification plants with carbon capture capabilities to process coal ranging from 100 to 500 TPD. Utilizing fluidized bed coal gasification technology, Thermax has implemented a pilot gasifier project at its Pune factory in partnership with IIT Delhi. This technology aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of gasifying 100 million tonnes of coal by 2030.

Introduction of Electrical Energy Solutions
Thermax recently launched electrical energy solutions such as electric boilers and hybrid heat pumps to meet heating and cooling requirements. These indigenously developed products reduce dependence on imports, minimize associated costs, optimize energy usage, and achieve zero emissions when powered by green electricity.
