Swan Defence and Heavy Industries Limited (SDHI), a leading private player in India’s shipbuilding and defence sector, has successfully completed the refit of the Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) SAJAG ahead of schedule. This marks SDHI’s second consecutive early project delivery, following the refit of the fast patrol vessel, Raj Ratan.
The ICGS SAJAG, an Offshore Patrol Vessel, underwent extensive repairs and testing over three months, culminating in a successful sea trial. Originally slated for completion by 15th March 2025, the project was finished ahead of time, showcasing SDHI’s operational efficiency and engineering expertise.
Vivek Merchant, Director of SDHI, stated, “This achievement underscores our commitment to India’s maritime defence and our ability to manage complex ship repair operations. With growing government investments in defence infrastructure, SDHI is well-positioned to contribute to India’s shipbuilding ambitions.”

The refit, carried out in collaboration with M/s Krasny Defence Technologies Ltd., included critical services like dry docking, berthing, and undocking. This milestone also highlights SDHI’s ongoing revival and its strategic focus on modernization and self-reliance in the maritime sector.
