Strategic Partnership Aims to Enhance Indigenous Manufacturing and Reduce Import Dependency

BEML Ltd., a leading Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSU) under India’s Ministry of Defence, has partnered with South Korea’s STX Engine to co-develop and manufacture advanced battle tank and marine engines. The collaboration, announced on February 11, 2025, in Bengaluru, also includes producing spares, engine aggregates, and providing servicing and maintenance for defence needs.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Shri Shantanu Roy, CMD of BEML Ltd., and Mr. Sangsu Lee, President & CEO of STX Engine. This partnership aligns with India’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) vision, aiming to reduce import dependency and strengthen indigenous defence and maritime capabilities.
