SpiceJet Launches UDAN Flights Connecting Shivamogga with Chennai and Hyderabad

October 10, 2024: SpiceJet, one of India’s leading airlines, has announced the launch of new UDAN flights. These flights will connect Shivamogga in Karnataka with Chennai and Hyderabad, starting today. This marks a significant milestone. Shivamogga is the latest addition to the airline’s domestic network. This follows its successful INR 3,000 crore Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP). This move enables further growth and expansion.

The new flights will operate daily except on Tuesdays. They are expected to boost connectivity. This will enhance tourism and trade between Shivamogga and key metro cities. SpiceJet is introducing double daily flights between Chennai and Kochi. They are responding to the high demand for this busy route.

Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer of SpiceJet, commented, “We are thrilled to add Shivamogga to our network. We are linking it with Chennai and Hyderabad, two crucial economic hubs. This move strengthens our dedication to regional connectivity under the UDAN scheme, offering affordable and seamless travel options. Shivamogga is renowned for its rich cultural heritage and scenic beauty. It is rapidly evolving. SpiceJet’s addition will cater to the rising demand for air travel from this Tier-2 city. The airline will operate 78-seater De Havilland Canada Q-400 aircraft on these routes. Bookings are now available through various platforms. These include SpiceJet’s website, mobile app, and travel agencies.

This expansion highlights SpiceJet’s strategic growth. It also aligns with the broader objective of enhancing regional connectivity across India.
