Railways to Construct Chitradurga Bharmasagara New Railway Line

South Westren Railways (SWR) has initiated the process of constructing a New Broad Gauge single line spanning from Chainage 171.640 to Chainage 142.920, connecting Bharmasagara and Chitradurga stations as part of the Tumkur-Chitradurga-Davangere New BG Line project. The Chitradurga Bharmasagara New Railway Line project entails a route length of 28.720 kilometres.

The proposed project involves the construction of a new broad gauge railway line between Bharmasagara (inclusive) and Chitradurga (exclusive) as part of the TumkurChitradurgaDavangere New Line Project.

This new line spans a route length of 28.720 kilometers and aims to implement an ‘Absolute block system’ for train operation at a maximum speed of 130 km/h, with an initial axle load capacity of 25 tonnes.

The scope of work includes the design and construction of various components such as civil, building, electrical, signalling, telecommunication, and track works. The project includes the construction of the following:

  • Construction of 5 major bridges, including protection measures.
  • Construction of 18 minor bridges.
  • Installation of 23 road under bridges.
  • Construction of 7 road over bridges, including approach structures.
  • Installation of 1 foot over bridge.
  • Construction of 1 pedestrian subway.

Additional associated works involving manufacturing, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning for a single-line railway capable of operating at a speed of 130 km/h.

This includes the design and construction of formation in embankments and cuttings, bridges, structures, buildings (including station and service buildings), ballast on formation, track works, and integration with the Indian Railway system.
