On 9 October, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch various development projects in Maharashtra worth over Rs 7,600 crore. These projects aim to boost sectors like aviation, healthcare, education, and skill development. The event will be conducted through a video conference at around 1 PM.
Nagpur Airport Expansion
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for upgrading Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur. The project’s estimated cost is Rs 7,000 crore. It is expected to benefit multiple sectors such as manufacturing, aviation, and healthcare. It will stimulate growth in Nagpur city and the wider Vidarbha region.
New Terminal at Shirdi Airport
A new integrated terminal will be built at Shirdi Airport, worth over Rs 645 crore. This terminal will cater to the religious tourists visiting Shirdi, offering them world-class facilities. The terminal’s design will be inspired by the spiritual significance of the neem tree associated with Sai Baba.
Inauguration of Medical Colleges
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the operation of 10 new government medical colleges across Maharashtra. These colleges are located in cities like Mumbai, Nashik, and Jalna. They will increase the number of medical seats. They will also provide specialized healthcare to the public.
Skill Development Initiatives
Another highlight is the inauguration of the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) in Mumbai. The institute aims to produce a skilled workforce trained in modern technologies such as robotics, artificial intelligence, and data analytics. Established in partnership with the Tata Education and Development Trust, it will provide advanced training to students.
Launch of Vidya Samiksha Kendra
The Prime Minister will also launch the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) of Maharashtra. VSK will enhance educational management by providing schools with key academic and administrative data. Through tools like live chatbots, it will offer schools resources to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
These projects are a significant step towards the continued development of Maharashtra. They boost infrastructure and create new opportunities across various sectors.
