Inaugurates New Terminal Building at Tiruchirappalli International Airport
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi marked the beginning of 2024 by inaugurating, dedicating to the nation, and laying the foundation stone for development projects exceeding Rs 20,000 crores in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. The projects encompass various sectors, including rail, road, oil and gas, and shipping.
Boosting Connectivity and Infrastructure
The new international terminal building at Tiruchirappalli International Airport, developed at a cost of over Rs 1100 crore, was inaugurated by the Prime Minister. This two-level facility, equipped with state-of-the-art amenities, is poised to serve more than 44 lakh passengers annually, fostering enhanced connectivity with East Asia, the Middle East, and beyond.

Dedications to Nation
PM Modi dedicated multiple railway projects, contributing to improved freight and passenger capacity, along with five road sector projects aimed at facilitating safe and faster travel. Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for crucial road development projects, emphasizing the government’s commitment to bolstering infrastructure.
Focus on Port-led Development
Highlighting the central government’s focus on port-led development, the Prime Minister underscored initiatives transforming coastal areas and fishermen’s lives. Projects such as the General Cargo Berth-II at Kamarajar Port and advancements in nuclear reactors and gas pipelines are anticipated to generate employment opportunities.

Vision for the Future
The Prime Minister shared his vision for the next 25 years, envisioning India as a developed nation with both economic and cultural prosperity. He applauded Tamil Nadu’s contribution to the nation’s progress and reiterated the government’s commitment to the state’s development.
Record Expenditure and State Development
PM Modi highlighted the record expenditure on Tamil Nadu by the Central Government, emphasizing substantial investments in roadways, railways, and social welfare. He affirmed the government’s belief that the development of states mirrors the development of the nation.

Empowering the Youth for a Developed India
Concluding his address, the Prime Minister expressed confidence in the youth of Tamil Nadu, seeing a new hope that he believes will energize the development of a prosperous India. He stressed the importance of collective efforts – Sabka Prayas – in achieving the goals of a developed nation.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of dignitaries, including the Governor of Tamil Nadu, Shri R N Ravi, Chief Minister Shri M K Stalin, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Shri L Murugan. The projects inaugurated and dedicated today aim to propel Tamil Nadu’s growth and contribute significantly to India’s journey toward development.
