Ashtlaxmi Haat & Experience Centre in Guwahati

The North Eastern Handicrafts & Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC) is set to establish the Ashtlaxmi Haat & Experience Centre in Guwahati, Assam, with a project cost of ₹7.6 crore. This initiative aims to provide market access to artisans from all Northeast states, offering 24 permanent stalls and an artisan residency for those coming from outstations.

ERI Silk Spinning Plant in Baksa

NEHHDC is making strides in the textile sector by setting up an ERI silk spinning plant at the Integrated Textile Park in Baksa, Assam. With a project cost of ₹14.92 crore, this plant is projected to create direct employment for 375 individuals and provide indirect livelihood for approximately 25,003 households. Once operational, the plant will have a daily production capacity of 450 Kgs of ERI Silk Yarn.

Market Development and Digitalization

NEHHDC is taking steps to enhance market development through digitalization, authentication, and traceability. Covering 10,000 weavers across 7 states in the North Eastern Region (excluding Sikkim), this initiative has a project cost of ₹14.92 crore. The corporation aims to increase the income of weavers by 20-30% over the next 2-3 years. More than 10,000 active loom weavers have already been identified and registered from the North Eastern states, excluding Sikkim.

Jewellery and Handicraft Incubation Centre

Under the ASPIRE Scheme of the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India, NEHHDC has received approval for the establishment of a Jewellery and Handicraft Incubation Centre. This incubation center, with a budget outlay of ₹1.9 crore, will further support and nurture artisans in the jewellery and handicraft sector, contributing to the economic growth of the region.
