Introduction of NIRMAN Portal
Union Minister for Coal and Mines, Shri G Kishan Reddy, launched the “Noble Initiative for Rewarding Mains Aspirants of National Civil Services Examination (NIRMAN)” portal in New Delhi today.
This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Mission Karmayogi” vision and is a CSR scheme by Coal India Limited, aimed at supporting meritorious youth in its operational districts.
Support for UPSC Aspirants
The NIRMAN scheme offers financial support of Rs 1,00,000 (One Lakh Rupees) to candidates who have qualified the Preliminary round of the UPSC examination (Civil Services & Forest Service) in 2024.
Eligible candidates include those with an annual family income of less than 8 lakhs and belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, female, or third gender categories. They must be permanent residents of any of the 39 operational districts of Coal India Limited (CIL).
Transparent Application Process
To ensure transparency and seamless screening of applications, the entire process is conducted through a dedicated portal. This digital approach is in line with Prime Minister Modi’s Digital India initiative, aiming to simplify and streamline access to this support.
Coal India Limited’s Role
Coal India Limited, a Maharatna Company, not only contributes significantly to the country’s energy security but also plays a crucial role in fostering education in coal-bearing areas. The company’s socially responsible initiatives support deserving and underprivileged students from these regions, helping them secure admissions to nationally reputed professional institutes.
Through initiatives like NIRMAN, Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries are contributing to the vision of “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) by “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas” (Collective Efforts, Inclusive Growth). This scheme marks a significant step towards empowering UPSC aspirants from underprivileged backgrounds, providing them with the necessary financial support to pursue their goals.
