Flagging Off Ceremony by Minister of State for Railways
The new Tumakuru – Yesvantpur MEMU train service, Train No. 06201/02, was officially flagged off by Shri V Somanna, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti. Several notable political figures, including MLAs and former MPs, attended the event. This train service aims to improve local connectivity for daily commuters in the region.
Details of the New Train Service
The Tumakuru – Yesvantpur MEMU Train (Train No. 06201/02) will start regular operations on September 27, 2024, from Yesvantpur and September 28, 2024, from Tumakuru. This service will operate every day except Sundays, ensuring a reliable travel option for residents.
- Tumakuru to Yesvantpur: Train No. 06201 departs from Tumakuru at 08:45 AM. It reaches Yesvantpur at 10:25 AM, with several stops at key stations like Kyatsandra, Hirehalli, and Dobbspet.
- Yesvantpur to Tumakuru: Train No. 06202 departs from Yesvantpur at 05:40 PM. It arrives in Tumakuru at 07:05 PM. It stops at stations such as Chikbanavar, Soldevanahalli, and Bhairanayakanahalli.
Additional Services for Commuters
Along with the Tumakuru – Yesvantpur MEMU train, new MEMU services between Banaswadi and Tumakuru (Train No. 06205/06) will also commence soon. These trains will run on specific days, further expanding the options for commuters traveling between these important hubs.
- Train No. 06205 (Banaswadi-Tumakuru): Running on Mondays, departing Banaswadi at 06:15 AM and arriving in Tumakuru at 08:35 AM.
- Train No. 06206 (Tumakuru-Banaswadi): Operating on Saturdays, leaving Tumakuru at 07:40 PM and reaching Banaswadi at 10:05 PM.
Enhancing Local Rail Connectivity
With the introduction of these new MEMU trains by SWR, the regional rail network in Karnataka receives a significant boost. These trains, each consisting of eight car coaches, will play a crucial role in improving daily travel for local commuters. They will also enhance connectivity to Bengaluru.
