Inauguration of New Police Commissioner Office
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has inaugurated the new Police Commissioner’s Office in Ahmedabad. Built at a cost of ₹140 crore, this state-of-the-art seven-story building covers an area of 18,000 square meters. It boasts advanced facilities, including a gym for personnel, centralized air conditioning, CCTV, fire safety equipment, and public parking.
Shah highlighted that the new office would improve working conditions for the Ahmedabad police. It would also establish a more efficient policing system.
Key Features of the New Office
The new building includes a memorial dedicated to fallen police officers. It also features a police museum and a public convenience center. There is a modern control room that will monitor the city round-the-clock. These additions aim to enhance both security and community services.
Alongside the office, Amit Shah launched several other key initiatives. These include the ‘Joint Interrogation Center’, the ‘Tera Tujhko Arpan’ portal, and the book ‘Cyber Saathi’. This book focuses on raising awareness about cybercrimes.
Technological Advancements in Policing
Amit Shah praised Gujarat Police for its technological innovations, mentioning projects such as ‘E-GujCop’, body-worn cameras, and the ‘Vishwas’ project. These technologies have positioned Gujarat Police as one of the most modern forces in the country.
Shah discussed Gujarat Police’s successful efforts in combating narcotics. He highlighted their leadership in investigations as a model for other states.
National Security and Future Outlook
During the event, Amit Shah reflected on India’s changing security landscape. He noted the reduction of violence in conflict zones like Kashmir. The Northeast has also seen less violence. Naxal-affected areas have experienced similar decreases. He emphasized Prime Minister Modi’s vision for a proactive, predictive, and scientific approach to policing.
Shah touched on India’s recent overhaul of criminal laws. The overhaul includes provisions to speed up the judicial process. It ensures timely justice. He stated that within three years, India’s criminal justice system would become one of the most modern in the world.
