Launch of New Tugboat “Ashva” Boosts Indian Navy Operations

The 25T Bollard Pull Tug, Ashva (Yard 337), Supports "Make in India" and Strengthens Naval Capabilities

The launch of a new 25T Bollard Pull Tug, named Ashva (Yard 337), occurred on October 3, 2024. Commodore Ajay Yadav initiated the launch in Kolkata. This is the third tug constructed by Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL). It is built under the Government of India’s “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives.

The Ashva is part of a contract to deliver six tugboats. These tugs will assist Indian Navy ships and submarines during operations like berthing, turning, and maneuvering in tight spaces. They are also equipped for firefighting and limited search and rescue operations, strengthening the Navy’s operational capabilities.
