Mumbai – Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) Digital Energy Solutions division, a part of L&T Construction’s Power Transmission & Distribution business, has taken a significant step towards boosting research and development in the field of renewable energy integration and control technologies.
The company has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the esteemed Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) to foster collaboration between industry and academia.

L&T -IIT Indore A Smart Partnership for a Green Future
Under this new initiative, L&T will establish a Smart Grid Solution Centre of Excellence in collaboration with IIT Indore’s students Learning & Experience Program. This strategic partnership aims to provide a platform for joint research, knowledge sharing, and the advancement of cutting-edge technologies in the renewable energy sector.
The MoU signing ceremony took place in the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Prof. I.A. Palani, Dean R&D of IIT Indore, and Dr. Jayant Kumar, Head of Digital Energy Solutions at L&T PT&D. Mr. T. Madhava Das, Whole-Time Director and Sr. Executive Vice President (Utilities) of Larsen & Toubro Limited, and Prof. Suhas Joshi, Director of IIT Indore, also graced the occasion. The event was attended by industry experts and faculty members from IIT Indore.

Empowering Future Innovators in Renewable Energy
Prof. Joshi highlighted the collaboration’s significance, stating, “IIT Indore will provide key research capabilities and research opportunities through various projects, including R&D, dissertations, student projects, and incubation initiatives. L&T PT&D has generously extended access to their state-of-the-art Digital Energy Solutions Labs in Chennai and Dallas, USA, to IIT Indore students for project work and joint research activities.”
Mr. T. Madhava Das shared his perspective on the partnership, saying, “L&T aims to engage with IIT Indore to foster innovation through entrepreneurial learning and technology incubation in the Digital Energy Solutions field. Together, we plan to undertake collaborative research and development projects in areas of common interest, such as Renewable Energy Management and Control Software, Cloud, Edge and Internet of Things (IoT) Technologies, AI/ML, Embedded Systems, VLSI Circuit and System Design, and Power Electronics.”
