The State government has accorded administrative approval for the Construction of a Road under Bridge instead of the Railway Level crossing Gate No.300 situated between Dharwad – Haliyal Road in the Hubballi-Londa Railway Section.
In February 2021 the Government of Karnataka had given in-principle approval for the construction of Road Under Bridge instead of Railway Level Crossing Gate No.300 between Dharwad -Haliyal Road at Hubballi-Londa Railway Section on a 50:50 cost-sharing basis.
The Chief Engineer, Construction South Western Railway, Hubballi, and Executive Engineer, Public Works, Department Dharwad Division, Dharwad have jointly prepared the estimate of the project and requested the State Government to take up the said work on a 50:50 cost-sharing basis.
Earlier, the MP Dharwad Shri Pralhad Joshi urged railways to eliminate the manned level crossing to provide uninterrupted movement of farm produces.
The State Government after examining the project proposal has given administrative approval to take up the Construction of the Road Under Bridge instead of the Railway Level Crossing on a 50:50 cost-sharing basis in December 2022.
The estimated project cost is Rs.41.82 crores, out of which the railway share is Rs.20.31 crores which includes 50% of the utility shifting cost i.e.,Rs.1 crore and the State Government share is Rs.21.51 crores
The State government also entrusted the construction work of Road Under Bridge(RUB) to South Western Railway as a single agency.
